The first ISES-AC seminar (and the ISES-AC preparatory meeting) ended successfully
In order to further discuss the subject development of environmental health exposure science and the work plan of the ISES-AC, on December 17, 2020, the Environmental Exposure and Health Research Center of USTB hosted the “The first ISES-AC seminar (and the ISES-AC preparatory meeting)”. Academician Fengchang Wu of the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, Director Yu Liu of the Department of Earth Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Professor Xinbiao Guo of the Department of Medicine of Peking University were invited to attend the meeting.
Academician Fengchang Wu pointed out: In recent years, the proportion of the environment in the burden of disease has gradually increased, which has promoted the development of exposure science, an interdisciplinary subject. We must be guided by goals and problems, face the major needs of the country, and aim to protect the health of the people, and find an interdisciplinary entry point to fit the major strategy of “Healthy China”. The development of exposure science is also in line with international development trends, and foreign experience and theoretical methods should be used to promote the development of domestic related fields. Director Liu Yu believes that exposure science is a very good bridge, with strong interdisciplinarity, which meets the major needs of the country. Exposure science coincides with the “time, place, and harmony of people”. We must continue to expand the reputation and talent pool of this discipline, and strengthen the discipline team. Professor Xinbiao Guo suggested: Exposure science should provide guidance for decision-making. In addition, it should also take into account the development of scientific research and supporting management decision-making.
